As I stood at the departure desk, I knew that this was going to be a problem. I walked up to the nice lady at the desk, and she stated, “We are waiting on a seat to open up.”   I was pretty mad, as I had purchased the ticket, and this was not a stand-by ticket. People who had the same scary words, “unassigned seat,” on their ticket, started to trickle up to the desk. I would say in total, there where about 12 of us who had no seat, and 12 of us who were not happy.

The airline started to offer a free flight the next night to Tulsa, free hotel, accommodations, free round trip ticket to fly anywhere and meals for the night and next day, if we were to give up our seats.  As tempting as that sounded,  I couldn’t  do it.  I wanted to see my family, even though I had only been gone for 2 days, it felt so much longer. After they loaded the passengers on the plane, there were 3 of  us left.  I women came running up to the plane, with a standby ticket. She was told by the desk clerk that there were no seats available and that she would have to take her other flight an hour later. She was mortified! We all stood there as she yelled at the desk attendant, ” I need to get home and see my little boy, I paid for this ticket!!”  Tempers were flaring, and you could cut the tension with a knife.  Another women and I then spoke and told her that we had been waiting for an hour and a half, and we had tickets as well, but what will yelling do??

 I think it the hardest thing for many of us is staying in tune with the lord. It is so hard to  break ourselves of the ways we once were, but so much easier when the joy of the lord is in our heart.

The flight attendent was frustrated, as were we, but we all waited patiently. Five minutes before they closed the boarding gate, they found 3 seats for myself, and the mother and daughter who were waiting with me.  There was a huge sigh of relief. We all just wanted to go home.

As I was getting on the plane, the attendant came over to me, and thanked me for my kindness and patience, and that she truly appreciated my understanding. I will tell you, this was not of me, but of the lord. You see, I would have no problem telling someone to be quiet, and take a seat, ( In other words).  Just knowing that we have to act as though the lord is right there next to us AT ALL TIMES!! Do you know why? Because he is.  We cannot hide from our actions, from how we talk to others, or how we present ourselves, he is always with us.  Live in his image, and know with this will be great rewards!
